New XPENG P7 heading to Europe. How will it differ from the P7+?

by P7+ News • Oct 22, 2026

XPENG plans to bring the new generation of the P7, known as the Next P7, to European sales. According to reports published on 20 October, the company’s vice president Yu Tao announced on Weibo that it would soon appear in Europe. He did not, however, give a sales start date, a list of countries or prices. 2027 therefore remains a possible scenario, not an officially confirmed date.

This is an important distinction: the Next P7 is not a facelift of the P7+ or another equipment version of it. It is the second generation of a separate P7 line, offered in China since August 2025. The car was already shown to a European audience at IAA Mobility in September 2025, but that presentation did not amount to an announcement that sales would begin.

Two models, two different priorities

The P7+ is positioned as a spacious, versatile fastback, while the new P7 leans more strongly toward a sporty silhouette and performance. The difference is well shown by the dimensions: the Chinese Next P7 measures 5017 mm long, 1970 mm wide and 1427 mm high. The European P7+ measures 5071, 1937 and 1512 mm respectively. The new P7 is therefore slightly shorter, wider and clearly lower, with a very similar wheelbase. This is a comparison of the current cars, not of the as-yet-unapproved European specification of the Next P7.

The P7+ has documented practical arguments: a 573-litre boot, expandable to 1931 litres with the seats folded, and a body designed around space and everyday usability. The Next P7 should therefore not be treated as automatically a “better P7+”, but as an alternative for people looking for a different character of car.

Performance and suspension may be the biggest difference

In the Chinese specification the new P7 offers rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. The most powerful version develops 437 kW, and the manufacturer quotes 0–100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 230 km/h. For comparison, the European P7+ AWD reaches 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. It is not yet known which drivetrain versions of the Next P7 will be offered in Europe.

A notable differentiator of the Chinese P7 is also the standard two-chamber air suspension with adaptive CDC dampers. Its availability in the European model remains to be confirmed, but it is one of the most important elements to watch when the local specification is published.

Bigger battery, but still no European range

The new P7 is offered in China with an LFP battery of 74.9 kWh or an NCM battery of 92.2 kWh. The European P7+ uses LFP batteries of 61.7 or 74.9 kWh. If the larger Next P7 battery also reaches Europe, it will be a clear difference between the two models. For now that remains a conditional scenario.

The largest declared range of the Chinese P7 is 820 km, but it was measured on the CLTC cycle. That is not a European WLTP result and should not be compared directly with the P7+‘s declared maximum of 530 km WLTP. The European range of the Next P7 has not yet been published.

Charging: a similar class of technology

Both cars use an 800 V architecture and batteries designed for 5C charging. For the European P7+ the manufacturer declares 10–80% charging in 12 minutes and up to 446 kW DC in selected versions. For the Chinese Next P7, times of around 11–12 minutes are published, depending on the variant and source. On this basis one cannot yet promise a big leap over the P7+ or guarantee identical parameters for the European version.

Equipment from China is not a promise for Europe

The Chinese Next P7 offers, among other things, an extensive AR-HUD head-up display, and in selected configurations even three Turing systems with a declared combined computing power of 2250 TOPS. The European P7+ was presented with computing power of up to 750 TOPS. This is, however, a comparison of hardware from different configurations and markets, not a confirmation that the European P7 will get the full Chinese equipment or identical driver-assistance features.

What remains unknown?

The latest announcement concerns the intention to sell the new P7 in Europe. There is still no concrete date, prices, list of markets, homologated WLTP range or local specification. Availability in Switzerland has also not been confirmed. The information about a 2027 launch should therefore, at this stage, be presented as a prediction, not an established fact.

The current data points to a clear split: the P7+ remains a proposal focused on space and versatility, while the Next P7 is meant to attract with a sportier silhouette, a stronger drivetrain and an advanced chassis. The final differences for the European customer can only be assessed once the versions intended for this market are announced.
