P7+ door service campaigns — EU and China

There are two separate door-related service campaigns for the P7+ — one in the EU, one in China. They are different actions on different mechanisms. Check which one applies to your car.

1. EU — front door locking mechanism

German dealer Kuhn+Witte (Jesteburg) reported a service action on the front door locking mechanism (Schließmechanismus). Parts are already ordered, but delivery is delayed — some customers wait up to ~5 weeks for the replacement, and scheduled deliveries are being pushed back.

  • Only some VINs are affected — not all cars.
  • Possible indicator: some owners notice their cars have a “B” at the 11th position of the VIN/FIN — but this is unconfirmed, don’t rely on it alone.
  • What to do: ask your dealer whether your VIN is covered. If so, schedule the mechanism replacement.

2. China — emergency interior door releases

In August 2026, China announced a massive recall of 4,275,743 vehicles (Tesla, Leapmotor, XPeng, Zeekr, Hongqi and others) concerning emergency interior door releases. Reason: the mechanical emergency handles are hard to identify and operate because their colour blends into the interior trim — in an extreme situation (crash, low-voltage failure) occupants may not find the handle.

Within this action, XPeng covers 264,842 vehicles:

  • P7+: 94,688 units
  • G6: 134,588 units
  • X9: 35,566 units

This is a different action from the EU locking-mechanism campaign. The Chinese recall concerns the emergency handle (opening), the EU one the locking mechanism.

Summary for EU owners

  • Check your VIN with your dealer — both campaigns cover only some cars.
  • If you have a Graz-built car (EU production), the EU locking-mechanism campaign is more likely — but verify by VIN, not by production site.
  • The Chinese emergency-handle recall mainly covers cars sold in China — but if your unit has similar handles, ask your dealer whether it will also cover the EU.
