P7+ AWD Performance long-term test — 2,500 km in real life

by P7+ News • Oct 20, 2026

Independent channel Dave.Drives published the second part of a long-term test of the XPENG P7+ AWD Performance (503 hp, all-wheel drive, 74.9 kWh LFP battery) — over 2,500 km of real-world use: highways, country roads, cities, French mountain passes, rain, and temperatures from 8 °C to over 20 °C. It is one of the first such extensive everyday-use tests of exactly this variant that reaches European customers.

Real consumption and range (AWD Performance)

The author reported concrete measured figures:

  • ~13–14 kWh/100 km — classic country-road driving (~70 km/h)
  • 16–18 kWh/100 km — relaxed highway (110 km/h)
  • ~22 kWh/100 km — constant 130 km/h
  • 23–24 kWh/100 km — 150 km/h
  • ~27 kWh/100 km — very high speeds (sections above 180 km/h)

Translated into range: ~440 km of highway at 120 km/h, ~380 km at a constant 130 km/h, and at full throttle (150–180 km/h, 8–10 °C) a real ~260–280 km. The author stresses that with such a small battery (74.9 kWh gross) this is a very good result — thanks to the low drag coefficient (0.21 Cd) and efficient recuperation.

Charging

DC charging remains a strong point — the author reports no issues with power or the charging curve even at low temperatures. However, he notes a bug in the navigation’s charging planner: on very long, especially cross-border routes, the calculation can “crash” and stop correctly computing charging stops, showing a false “offline” message and asking to wait for the connection to be restored.

Everyday-driving impressions

  • Very quiet car — ~66 dB measured at 130 km/h; on the 20” wheels of the Performance, tires become the loudest element.
  • Comfortable seats with strong massage and ventilation — praised as a luxury level.
  • Steering can feel “numb” and needs menu tuning; lane-keep can make it “notchy”.
  • A-pillars quite slanted, low roof — limited visibility at intersections.
  • No full trip computer — Trip A/B shows only distance, without an average-consumption breakdown.
  • Bluetooth key detection (digital key) can be slow — a few seconds of waiting at the car.

Summary

The test confirms the P7+ AWD Performance is a very efficient and comfortable long-distance car despite its small battery — thanks to excellent aerodynamics, efficient recuperation and fast DC charging. The minor annoyances noted above (charging planner, missing trip computer, slow Bluetooth key) are more software and ergonomics issues than construction defects.
